Baldwinsville was dispatched to Evans Drive in the Lakeside Fire District Saturday afternoon for a report of smoke coming from the roof of a house. Lakeside Car 2 (Panighetti) arrived to find heavy fire coming from the attached garage and declared a working fire (99) . Lakeside Engine 3 was first due with Baldwinsville personnel on board as well as Ladder 2 arriving 4th due being assigned to ventilation. Ladder 2's crew made quick work of laddering the residence and cutting ventilation holes in the roof and were able to find fire in the attic space. It was discovered that the fire started in the garage portion of the home due to a power surge. Crews battling the fire also had some initial challenges with live power lines being down on the ground in front of the structure. A job well done by Lakeside, Baldwinsville, Liverpool and Solvay units that were able to save most of the home as well as 2 of the families pets.
