Baldwinsville, Lakeside and Liverpool units were activated to the Cedarwood Apartments in the Town of Van Buren Tuesday morning for smoke in an apartment-possible fire in a electrical switch. Car 4 (Assistant Chief Cerio) arrived with smoke showing from multiple floors of a 3 story multi-occupancy building. Baldwinsville Engine 1 arrived first due moments later and stretched 2 hand lines to the basement level apartment and 1st floor apartment with Ladder 2 arriving 2nd due stretching a 3rd hand line into the structure. Ladder 3 arrived 3rd due with an assignment for ventilation and went to the roof. Lakeside, Memphis, Belgium Cold Springs and Liverpool (RIT) were also on scene assisting in operations. The fire was found to have started in the basement apartment by an electrical short and quickly travelled through the walls of the apartment building to above apartments. The fire was quickly contained as fire crews rapidly tore apart walls to find the fire. Multiple residents were still not able to return to the apartments after the fire due to smoke and water damage as well as the electrical being shut off to half of the building.
